"Examples of eMailer2001 Ver 2.20"

When you have downloaded the eMailer2001 Ver 2.20 one of the files that have been sent is the "examples.zip". You can unzip this file (it will be sent to the correct folders) and examine these samples.
This file contains sample templates for newsletter, filters for auto-reply, follow up messages, new subscriptions and also a sample scheduler.

If you want to download the examples.zip click here.

NOTE:In order to work with this example, you must put the files to the correct folders. You can do this by doing the following:

  1. Copy the zip file to the folder where you have installed the eMailer

  2. Unzip the examples.zip

  3. Add to your lists the products.db list, the same way as the eMailer's User Guide shows.

Another way to get tutorial in depth, with examples and tips about each eMailer's feature is to download the eMailer's User Guide. NOTE:The User Guide is yours absolutely FREE no matter if you don't purchase the program.

Don't forget to read the Help file that comes with the eMailer when you download and install the program.

Now let us examine some complicated situations.

How to find undeliverable e-mails and remove them from your list.

At first you must create another mailing list with no fields except the email field which the list will have by default.
(example: UNDELIVERABLE.DB)
Then in the Edit Mailing List window enter the username and the password as usual, tick the subject line check box and in the subject line enter the message you will receive from your ISP if the e-mail cannot be delivered.
(example: Returned mail: see transcript for details).
Create a new subscription filter where you define in which line the undeliverable e-mail is being refered.
For example, if we have something like this:

From:undeliverable@isp.com
To:newsletter@youremail.com
Subject: Returned mail: see transcript for details
Message:
#1 The original message was received at Sat, 13 Jul 2002
#2 23:29:45 +0300 (EEST) from undeliverable.isp.com [63.60.0.1]
#3
#4 ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors -----
#5 [wrongemail@hotmail.com]
#6 ...
then the e-mail can be found in the LINE# 5 after the WORD(S) '['

In scheduler create a 'new subscription' process, having as a list the undeliverable list (UNDELIVERABLE.DB) and filter the one that you have just created. This task will be checked a few minutes after you have sent your newsletter.
The undeliverable e-mails will be added in this list and you can check them, and remove them from the other lists you have by running the menu command:
[Delete Duplicate Records from the list]

How to create a double opt-in mailing list

Create an auto-reply filter with subject the subject you want the subscribers message to have.
In the auto-reply message use somewhere in the template message in a single line the '%%' which will display the message someone has sent.

Here is an example of a template:
This is a double opt-in mailing list, in order to subscribe you must hit the reply button of your e-mail program, without changing anything.
Below are the details you have sent to us:
%%

In the [Edit Mailing List] menu command in the subject line for new subscriptions use the 'Re: ' and the message you have used as a subject in the auto-reply filter, because when you hit the reply button the subject remains the same having a 'Re: ' in front of it.
For example, if in the auto-reply filter the subject line is 'subscribe' then the new subject will be 'Re: subscribe'
Create a new subscription filter where you will define where in the message the fields can be found.
After that use the Scheduler to check your messages as always.

How to add someone in your auto-responses and in your newsletter the same time.

Create a follow up filter with subject the one that you use for your new subscriptions subject.
The rest will be done automatically by the Scheduler.
